Crochet- Monday Mindfulness
Mindful Monday- What to do when its raining?
However much I would love to spend every waking minute in the outdoors, there does come a point when it’s raining that you have to admit defeat and go back indoors. Afterall, there is only so much ‘dancing in the rain’ that a person can do before you start questioning yourself. So for this week’s Mindful Monday I bring you an indoor activity- The art of crochet.
So this week I have been scratching up on my crochet skills and attempted a ‘nature’ themed bird crochet pattern! Meet Polly Parrot (as the instruction book helpful names her). I have not been crocheting very long and for the most extent my knowledge is quite limited (hence why Polly looks a little odd in places…) However, I did enjoy stitching along to the pattern and can say it kept my mind focused off worries for a little while.
I also am slightly ‘obsessed with my ‘Polly’ the crochet parrot; I mean she is kinda cute, plus putting her in the tree did make me laugh. Overall, I would say that crocheting has definitely been one of my favourite mindfulness activities so far, and the fact you can do it rain or shine in basically any location (if you take it with you) is a definite positive; so I think I will be trying a few more crochet animal patterns in the future.
The Positive benefits of crochet and knitting:

- Can counter depression
- Slow the onset of dementia
- Induces well-being
